Doreen Anthony - Sinare
Is the Chief Executive Officer and Copyright
Administrator of the Copyright Society of Tanzania (COSOTA).
COSOTA is a statutory body established under
Section 46 of The Copyright and Neigbouring Rights Act No. 7 of 1999 (CAP 218
RE 2002).
COSOTA is under the Ministry of Industry and
Trade.
Doreen holds Master of Intellectual Property and
Competition Law from The Munich Intellectual Property Law Centre; an academic
centre jointly runs by the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition,
the University of Augsburg, the Technische Universität München, and The George
Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C. (USA).
Doreen started her Intellectual Property journey
even before knowing what Intellectual Property is. She used to love creative
works including passion for music, film and even advertisements.
Her mother, father and husband who are also
passionate in music and film and other works exposed her to the extent of
deciding to pursue further studies in Intellectual Property.

office mates. Special thanks to my all time workmates and college mates; my
Husband Advocate Sinare Zaharan and friends Advocates Maureen Fondo Jandwa and
Dr. Eliamani Laltaika being the leaders.
Doreen has been with COSOTA since January 2009
as a Principal Copyright Documentation Officer, 2010 as a Principal Copyright
Licensing Officer, March 2013 as the Acting Chief Executive Officer and
Copyright Administrator and since Dec 2014 as the Chief Executive Officer and
Copyright Administrator.
Doreen is also an Advocate, Notary Public and
Commissioner for Oaths of Tanzania since 2008.
Doreen has prepared and presented different
copyright papers and participated in different internal and external trainings
and researches including the research on how copyright based industries
contribute to Tanzania’s economy sponsored by the World Intellectual Property
Organization (WIPO) and Copyright, Competition Development study that the World
Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) commissioned The Max Planck Institute
for Innovation and Intellectual Property and also a member of the 2014 and 2015
Africa Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO) Standing Committee
on Copyright and Related Rights.
